On January 28, Douglas County announced that the Minden-Tahoe airshow will be returning to the Minden-Tahoe Airport in 2026. The event will be held on Oct. 16-18. This year’s event will feature the airshow’s first ever night show, showcasing pyrotechnics, illuminated aircraft, and more. The airshow will also feature performances by the Patriots Jet Team, expanded family activities, ground displays, and entertainment throughout the weekend.

In previous years, the airshow has taken place under the name “Aviation Roundup.” This year, event organizers have made plans to rebrand the airshow to reflect its “growth, energy, and role as a signature regional event.” The airshow team is inviting the community to help choose a new name.

Airport Manager Heather MacDonnell explained, “The airshow belongs to the community. We want the new name to reflect local pride, excitement, and the future of the event.”

Community voting is now open to anyone who wants a say in what the new name will be. The final names to choose from include Minden-Tahoe SkyFest, High Desert Skies Airshow, Sierra Thunder Airshow, or keeping it as Aviation Roundup. According to Douglas County, “The winning name will become the official identity of the airshow moving forward and will be unveiled later this year.”
