The Western States Ranch Rodeo Association (WSRRA) Finals filled the Winnemucca Events Complex from Oct. 30 through Nov. 1, bringing together some of the region's best ranch cowboys and cowgirls for three days of contests and fun. WSRRA organizers say this year's championship rodeo drew more than 275 contestants across multiple events, along with fans from across the West.

The rodeo began on Wednesday with jackpot ropings and qualifying rounds, then moved into the main team and individual events. This year's rodeo featured 56 open teams, 28 women's teams, along with junior and senior divisions, steer stopping, “old timers,” and both adult and youth ranch broncs riding.

The Deadman Ranch crew – Trevor Carrasco, Austin Carrasco, Josue Madrigal, and Justin Geney – took top ranking. In the women's division, Danielle Barry, Lisa Areklian, and Kamish Wagner of the Apple Dumpling Gang claimed the winning title.

Individual events saw Wes Aragon take the top spot in ranch bronc riding, leading the season with over 1,092 points, while Mattie Ward secured the women's steer stopping title with 355 points.

With 31 vendors on-site, 661 stall nights sold, and most RV spaces filled for nearly five days, the event also brought in about 25 out-of-town staff, including announcers, judges, and media.

“The WSRRA Finals bring a couple hundred contestants, families, vendors, and staff into Winnemucca for almost a full week,” said Katie Neffur with the WSRRA. “Between the horses, the RVs, and everyone in town eating, staying, and shopping, it brings a good buzz to the community every fall.”

See you next year at the Winnemucca WSRRA Finals.
